Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 5S, which
includes a finger print sensor, and the iPhone 5C,
the firms new budget smartphone.
Apple unveiled its two latest iPhone models at
the company’s Cupertino, California,
The cheaper iPhone 5C will be available in five
colours: green, blue, yellow, pink and white.
The lower cost phone will go on sale in the US at
$99 (£62.00) for a two year contract.
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook called the iPhone
5C, “more fun and colourful”, it is the first time
that the iPhone will be available immediately in
China, where it is hoped the lower cost phone will
The iPhone 5S was dubbed “the gold standard in
smartphones” during the unveiling and features a
finger print sensor which will allow you to touch
the home button to unlock your phone.
The new iPhones arrive at a time when the
smartphone market is becoming increasingly
Research firm Gartner Inc. estimated that Apple
had a 14.4 per cent share of the world’s
smartphone market in the second quarter of this
year, behind Samsung’s 31.7 per cent.
